NEW! Affordable Care Act Reduces Costs for Seniors
The federal government’s website Healthcare.gov offers a number of resources specific to the changes in the Affordable Care Act. The Act has provisions that are intended to strengthen Medicare, reduce fraud, and close the gap in Medicare prescription drug coverage known as the “donut hole.” The Affordable Care Act takes a number of steps that should improve health care for people with Medicare. Healthy Town Healthy Town, a unique health promotion program, has demonstrated success in improving the health of seniors and families with children in Ohio. Using innovative computer screening technology, Healthy Town identifies health and injury risks and links seniors and families with children to community prevention services. The program works with senior centers and day care centers to develop on-site health promotion programs. The Healthy Town web site presents easy to use health information.
